L.S. Lowry (1887-1976)

Today i will blog about my favourate artist during the 18th to 19th century which is L.S. Lowry (1887-1976).

One of the best-known artistic figures in contemporary British painting, the Manchester artist L.S. (Laurence Stephen) Lowry was born and spent all his life in Northern England . Lowry's signature idiom is genre-painting or urban landscape, especially pictures of 'matchstick' figures drawn against industrial buildings, often emphasizes hazy atmosphere.

L.S. Lowry was born in Stretford, Lancashire in 1887. His mother was disappointed by the birth of her son as she prefers to give birth to a girl. His father, was a 'cold fish', the sort of man who 'realised he had a life to live and did his best to get through it. Lowry showed an early talent for art. At the age of 18,  he secured a place at the Manchester School of Art, where he came under the influence of his teacher the French Impressionist Adolphe Valette. Later, in 1925, Lowry studied for a period at the Salford School of Art where his studies continued until 1925 and he developed an interest in industrial landscapes and began to establish his style.
There’s a huge differences between my life experiences compared with L.S. Lowry. He mentioned that he never had any woman in his life but he had few close friends. For my opinion, I felt that having a partner in life is very important. Next, His passion for painting never sleeps. Even though he work as a clerk in the morning before his retirement but he will paint at night. He created almost 15,000 sketches and oil paintings during his lifetime. For me, I don’t think I am that hardworking compared to L.S Lowry to work and paint at the same time as it is tiring.

I have learnt some life lessons when i do research about L.S Lowry. I learnt that practice makes perfect. I believed L.S Lowry is known for his art work because his hard work is paid off by doing a lot of attempts and attended art schools. Besides, we can’t choose our parents but live with it. L.S Lowry agreed in an interview that he had unpleasant childhood. He remained tough in his family and never had an impulsive decision by running away from home but pursue his dreams in arts. Moreover, be humble even though you are famous. For instance, he supported young artist such as Sheila Fell by buying their pictures and gave to the museums.

The picture showed above is the art work i did for my drawing fundamental class inspired by L.S Lowry. I like the way the he drew building with hazy atmosphere . By doing the artwork above, I conclude that i am really weak at perspective and now i know my weakness so i can improve it .

The Journey Part 2

25.7.14 Friday

I woke up darn late that day because i think i had a good relationship with my bed
The bed at my home is damn comfortable compared with billion of beds in the world and
i don't feel like waking up !

Never had such satisfied sleep after a while compared to the bed at the hostel  .. C:C:

After that, i had my breakfast + lunch = brunch with friends.

We went to the restaurant, shabu garden . I wonder if they have shabu in singapore but
in case you didnt know, shabu is a japanese dish of thinly sliced meat and vegetables of your choice and boiled quickly in broth ( flavour of your choice ) and served with various dipping sauces.

By seeing this pictures, and those memories strike into my head.. i wish to eat the food NOW and had
bonding session with my friend.

trust me , i am all my best when i am with them :)

They really compensate with me when i asked them for pictures to complete my blogspot ! hahaha
Our meal took about four hours because we talked and laughed too much !!

And we went for desserts after that :) we really grow some sweet tooth !

Mad About Coco located at Sri Hartamas

Its a hard time for me when we left because i am studying in Singapore now and i miss them soooooooo MUCH ! :(

#qoutes-of-the-day : distance is just a test to see how far can love travel

Took this picture when the traffic light is in red colour. Trust me, i miss driving SOOOO MUCH and i had so much memories about - Driving . Including taking the test, learning and ESPECIALLY driving experience with friends and sit on their car .. laughing how silly and their parking skills of course hahaha

26.7.2014 Saturday

A day that i finally stepped into the mall ! Pavillion @ Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur is the main city in Selangor , the place i stay. Its crowded 24/7 but it worth the crowd because there's nice food and shops ! The atmosphere there is very nice especially at night =]

I went to dine in at Sukiya , a Japanese Buffet. Before i came to singapore to further my studies, that restaurant used to be my once a week routine because the food is more than BEST .

They serve four different type of soup base

Sukiyaki
Cooked in a sweetened soy-sauce broth
Shabu-shabu
Low calories and light on the palate.
For those, who likes a slightly bland taste, this is great!
Miso Soup
Miso is made from fermented soybeans
Kimuchi
A mildly spicy soup made with authentic Kimchi base, spicy Miso and various vegetable base.
For those, who enjoys some spiciness

Their selection of food for us is very healthy . They mostly served raw vegetables and only few processed food.

THEY SERVED SUSHI and main point is - EAT ALL YOU CAN IN 2 HOURS :) ) ) ) )

This is the boom ! They served ice cream with 3 different flavours ( chocolate, yam, greentea ) as desserts

My tummy is pampered

The Journey

I had a short getaway back home, Malaysia for 5 days
from 23.7.14 - 27.7.14

23.7.14 Wednesday

After i finished my class at 1 pm ( 2D Fundamentals ) i went back to my hostel to grab my
luggage and off to Changi Airport

I reached Malaysia at about 6 and my family picked me up from the Airport
I miss them soooooo muchh ! Eventhough i didn't see them for about 2 weeks? but i felt like decades :(

Had dinner with family at home . Mum's cooking are the best !
After that, I had supper at MontKiara , Caffe Bene. ( origin : South Korea ) with my friends .

It has great ambience and good customer services . Not to forget to mention that their food is
SUPERRRR NICE !! ESPECIALLY BINGSU ( Bingsu or bingsoo is a very popular and elaborate snack/dessert in Korea, especially during the summer season . This snack is composed of ice shavings and various ingredients such as sweetened condensed milk, fruit syrups, various fruits such as strawberries, kiwifruit, and bananas, small pieces of tteok (rice cake), chewy jelly bits, and cereal flakes. It is often topped with ice cream or frozen yogurt.)

left ; green tea , middle : cookie & cream . right ; strawberry

Their garlic & cheese toast are incredible delicious :P

The cozy and pleasant atmosphere there are the BOOM ! A recommended place
for good food and bonding session with friends .

Guess i am doing free adverbs for Caffe bene ahaha !

24.7.2014 - Thursday

Woke up kinda early today to renew my passport . WELL, that's the main purpose
for me to travel back Malaysia and skipped my friday class :(
guilty ....

It took about an hour for the whole procedure to be done and i went to lunch with my friends.

The Korean Chicken House , Ampang Point .

Chicken House, as its name suggests, boasts on its chicken dishes- even from the stairways up to the shop, a big poster is displayed. From the outside, this eatery doesn't attract- simple and plain, but once i stepped into the shop, i felt the coziness of a Korean home (at least that's how i felt; i've yet to visit a real korean house). Air-conditioned, the seating is split into two: table and chair, or table and floor. We decided for the latter; we removed our shoes and sat on the mat, then flipped through the menu. It my first try at Korean Chicken House.

This had to be the best of the night! My expectation of their chicken was high but when i sank my teeth onto this crispy, flavourful skin and meat, my expectation went flying off the roof. I was wondering how good can a chicken taste and this just proves it. Sweet, aromatic coating on its crust, tender and smooth meat on the inside. The above portion is half the actual size because the owner helped to divide this dish into two. Rather steep, RM 49, ( SGD  18.8 ) but worth a try, good to share, and if splurging is desired, splurge it right with this.

I swear, this is the best chicken meat i ever eaten at the entire 18 years of my life !

Hey teacher ! If you're reading this and your saliva started drooling , feel free to contact me and
i will be your tour guide for this amazing food trip !

Guess i posted too much for a post and i shall continue on my next post ! Stay tuned : )
